ABOUT DAWN-MARIE
I’m a marketer helping bakers turn what they already know into something they can sell.
I’m Dawn-Marie Nesbitt, founder of The Digital Bakery Model.
I’ve spent years helping businesses and creators market products, build audiences and turn ideas into revenue. Today, I’m bringing that experience into the baking world; helping bakers who want to create income from what they know, as well as bakery businesses, brands and industry organisations exploring new ways to turn expertise into products, education and other commercial opportunities.
HOW I GOT HERE
I didn’t start in the baking industry. I started in marketing.
I’ve been marketing businesses, products and my own ideas since 2016.
Over the years, I’ve worked across digital strategy, content, paid advertising, email, events, partnerships and sales — helping businesses attract the right audience and turn attention into revenue.
I’m largely self-taught, and much of what I know has come from years of testing ideas, building campaigns, analysing what worked and improving what didn’t.
Today, I still work part-time in marketing for my husband’s company — a furniture design and manufacturing business while devoting the rest of my time to building The Digital Bakery Model.
That ongoing connection to commercial marketing matters to me because this work isn’t really about “making an ebook.”
It’s about something so simple: how do you take something useful, position it well and get the right people to care about it enough to actually pay for it?
THE START OF THE DIGITAL BAKERY MODEL
It started with ebooks; then I found an interest worth testing.
Before specialising in the baking industry, I spent several years creating, marketing and selling ebooks.
I sold more than $10,000 worth of ebooks myself and began teaching other people how to create, launch and sell their own.
That grew into a YouTube community of more than 6,000 subscribers and an email audience of over 2,000 people interested in ebook marketing and digital products.
But eventually I began asking myself a different question.
Instead of teaching everybody how to sell ebooks, was there a particular group of people for whom this model could be especially useful?
That question ultimately led me to bakers and their recipes.

Why baking?
Baking has been part of my life for a long time.
I’ve been baking since I was about 12, so although my career took me into marketing, baking was never completely separate from my life. I still love experimenting with recipes now. These days, that often means finding different ways to make cakes, breads and other bakes without conventional flour or added sugar.
I’m not a professional baker, and I don’t pretend to be. What I bring is the marketing side: spotting what could be useful, understanding who might want it, shaping the idea and testing whether people are willing to pay for it.
The more time I spent around bakers, the more I realised how much valuable knowledge often sits behind the products they sell every day.
WHAT I DO TODAY
My work sits where baking, marketing and education meet.
Today, The Digital Bakery Model is about more than recipe ebooks. I write and teach about the different ways baking knowledge can become products, education and new ways to earn.

FOR BAKERS
Turn what you already know into something you can sell.
Helping experienced bakers spot opportunities in their recipes, skills and audience and turn them into practical digital products.

FOR BAKERY BUSINESSES
Turn years of know-how into new revenue streams.
Helping bakery businesses look beyond physical production and explore how their recipes, processes and customer trust could become new products or revenue streams.

FOR INDUSTRY ORGANISATIONS
Create useful education for the bakers you serve.
Working with baking schools, publishers and platforms to create workshops, content and practical resources around digital products, and new ways to earn.
WORKING ACROSS THE BAKING INDUSTRY
Building relationships, sharing ideas and contributing to the conversation.
The Digital Bakery Model is still growing, but the work is already taking me into different corners of the baking industry — from online communities and education platforms to industry publications and associations.
So far, that has included workshops and collaborations with CakeFlix and Sweet as Success, and writing as a regular business columnist for Cake Collaborator Magazine, I’m also continuing conversations with other baking platforms, communities and organisations as The Digital Bakery Model grows.

LET’S WORK TOGETHER
Looking for a fresh way to support your baking audience or grow what your business already knows?
I work with bakery businesses, baking schools, associations, communities, publishers and platforms on projects that turn expertise into useful education, content and new commercial opportunities.
That could mean a workshop, masterclass, commissioned content, a digital product idea or a wider collaboration.
ONE LAST THING
I’m building this around what is genuinely useful to bakers.
The focus is simple: understand what people need, create something that helps, and keep building from there. That’s what has shaped The Digital Bakery Model so far, and it’s the same thinking I bring to every resource, workshop and collaboration.
